I had to continually remind myself that this is fiction, so well researched was james webb. i kept looking for my uncle's name who was with the general on the second landing of luzon, then the island of japan during the occupation. the book rates there with fields of fire.
Good insight into macarthur times prior to japans surrender. i enjoyed the book and would recommend it to those interested in historical fiction of this time.
This is a fascinating first-hand account of the leadership driving wwii from both sides. personalities and ideologies become central to the story. mixed in is the account of one man's experiences during a time that changed the world forever.
