Short and clear refutation of socialism and government intervention
This great little book doesn't take long to read, but is quite thorough about explaining the problems with socialism. it takes a wide definition of what socialism is, and reads more like a polemic against government intervention in economic activities rather than pure socialism as most know it. this book looks at socialism in all its forms from russian and chinese communism, national socialism to nordic welfare state socialism and numerous other examples of how government monopoly, welfare, regulation and taxation reduces living standards. if you are a staunch defender of leftist government policies, you may feel as though this book isn't critical enough of capitalism. the rather brief way each topic is dealt with might also be frustrating to some who want something a little more meaty. overall it was a brief and enjoyable read and a great introduction to the arguments against socialism from a free market perspective.
