Outstanding horror by an amazing author!! gave me the creeps!
I must preface this review by saying that i am not normally a fan of vampire stories, but decided to take a chance on "the house on blackstone moor," because a friend had read it, and was raving about how scary it was. after receiving a review copy, i delved deep into this new horror novel. i must say that i do not regret it! from the opening chapters, where the author skillfully sets an eerie tone, to the build up to several truly disturbing revelations and events, ms. gil really immerses the reader in her well crafted and frightening dark world. reading this novel reminded me of some of the old hammer productions films of the 70s and 80s, where atmosphere and subtlety could be much more effective and spooky than most modern horror, where there is too much vulgarity and torture. her brand of horror creeps up on you, and before you know it, you're laying in your bed peeking out over the covers. ms. gil, if you are reading this, please write a part two. i for one, will be keeping a keen look out to see if she comes out with another novel and turns this into a series. truly excellent!
